Guitar, Bass and Amplifier Service & Repairs

Our in-store Workshop was established well-over 30 years ago by Owner Jamie, who has built a lifetime worth of experience and is a true maestro with repairs. Jamie specialises in all of the below services; he has a critical eye for Setups and is also dab-handed at electrical repairs; from a simple restring or input socket to fret-dressing or full re-wire - The Guitar Store Southampton is the place to bring your precious instrument.

Guitar / Bass Service and Repair

A Setup includes:

Clean frets, oil fingerboard, adjust truss rod, restring, cut nut, check and adjust intonation, set the action (to your preferences), clean & polish body. Strings not included in price.

  • Acoustic Guitars - £55

  • Bass & Electric Guitars - £55
  • Electric Guitars with locking trem - £61

  • 12 String Acoustics - £65

  • Extra Charge of £2 for additional strings (e.g. for 7 or 8 string guitars)
  • Extra Charge of £6 for Floyd Rose Trem Systems
  • Fret Dressing (If Required) Grind out fret-wear, re-profile frets, sand and polish frets. All Guitars, when done as part of a setup - £35
  • New Nut fitting - £45 plus part (has to be done in conjunction with a setup: total is - £100 plus part.

RESTRING

Clean frets, oil fingerboard, adjust truss rod and set trem. Strings not included in price.

ELECTRICAL REPAIRS

  • New Pot - £30 plus part
  • Input Socket - £30 plus part
  • New Selector Switch - £40 plus part
  • Fit New Pickups - 1st £45 (includes a re-string but excludes strings), 2nd £25, 3rd £10 (Add £15 for semi-acoustic guitars)


Amp Repair and Service

Standard charge of £75 for most repairs which always includes a full service, excluding parts. For parts that are required, you will be contacted to advise costs. Turnaround is 7-10 working days. For valve amps we use either Groove Tube, Watford or EHX branded valves, and regularly keep stock of various forms of preamps and power amp valves.
